Layering Sight Lines: Fall Final Review
For the Colloquium II: Explain, Explore, Propose I prepared a performance lecture using transparencies and an overhead projector. The transparencies were printed with georeferenced, traced, and archival materials from my research on Gaza’s topography and ecologies as sites of military management, implicated in regimes of state vision.
These layers were physically stacked on the overhead projector as I delivered my proposal, embodying the accumulating layers of debris, sand, and palimpsest of violence in these localities. The use of an overhead projector was a further exploration into my interest in the ways light is thrown, reflected, transmitted, and how knowledge is produced through these processes (such as through satellite reflectance measurements). A digitized version of these transparencies along with the proposal itself can be found here.
